Mayor and Council to recognize the accomplishments of local athletes, Elle Fenton & Hayley Halstead, who participated in the 2024 Winter Games in Quesnel, B.C. during the event held February 22 - 25th.

  • Recommended Motion:

    THAT the following item be received into the record:

Correspondence dated March 1, 2024 from Metro Vancouver regarding the City of Maple Ridge's request for a Type 2 Amendment to Metro 2050 for a 25.4-hectare site comprising 13 properties located south-west of the intersection of 232 Street and 128 Avenue.

Stephanie St. Jean, Director of Corporate Services, to introduce Wyle Baoween with ‘Inclusivity’ (formerly called HRx), who will present an overview of key insights resulting from the internally-focused Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) assessment as well as outline the subsequent steps.

  • Recommended Motion:

    THAT Council:

    1. Receive for Information the report titled “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Assessment and Strategy” as presented at the March 12, 2024 Council Meeting; OR

       

    2. Other.

Samantha Maki, Director of Engineering & Operations, together with Anita Chambers, Community Consultant with Urban Systems, to provide an overview of the proposed DCC updates, including DCC 101s, growth projections, project updates and rates.

  • Recommended Motion:

    THAT Council:

    1. Receive for information the staff report titled ‘Development Cost Charges – Program and Rates Update’ dated March 4, 2024; OR

    2. Other.

Samantha Maki, Director of Engineering & Operations, to provide an overview of the UBCM Community Emergency Preparedness Fund grant opportunity for the installation of monitoring equipment in the City’s drainage network.

  • Recommended Motion:

    THAT Council:

    1. Endorse staff’s submission of an application to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF) for up to $150,000 in grant funding; AND

    2. Endorse support for the disaster risk reduction project, including installation of monitoring equipment throughout the City’s drainage network and supplemental works; OR

    3. Other.

Chantal Gemperle, Manager of Building & Bylaw Services, to provide an overview of amendments to the Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw No. 2439, 2009.

  • Recommended Motion:

    THAT Council:

    1. Grant first, second and third readings to the Bylaw Notice Enforcement Amendment Bylaw No. 2974, 2024 as presented at the March 12, 2024 Council Meeting; AND

    2. Endorse a more direct enforcement approach to water restriction violations, as described in the “Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw Update” report presented at the March 12, 2024 Council Meeting; OR

    3. Other.

Patrick Ward, Director of Planning & Development to provide an overview of Zoning Text Amendment Bylaw No. 2961, 2024 following the public hearing held on February 27, 2024.

  • Recommended Motion:

    THAT Council:

    1. Grant third reading to Zoning Text Amendment Bylaw No. 2961, 2024, as amended, regarding updates to the home-based business section; OR

       

    2. Other.
